Read Matthew 1 in context

Scripture Focus

18Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Matthew 1:18

Biblical Context

Mary, espoused to Joseph, is found with child by the Holy Spirit. The birth signifies a divine idea arising within consciousness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Matthew 1:18 reveals a birth that happens not in the outward crowd but in the mind. Mary is the receptive state of your consciousness, the quiet space that can nurture a divine idea. Joseph—the espoused fidelity of mind—represents discipline, the authority that refuses to entertain doubt or premature action. The Holy Ghost is imagination in action—the breath of God within you that gives form to what you inwardly conceive. Before they came together, before any outward activity, the seed of Jesus is conceived in awareness; the Christ appears as a living idea in your realm of thoughts. The birth is thus not about a body, but about your inner state becoming manifest. If you hold Mary in receptive trust and permit Joseph’s steady order to guard the vision, the Spirit will breathe and bring forth the Christ in your experience. Remember: the I AM within you is the Father-Mother, and imagination is the instrument by which your divine idea becomes visible.

Practice This Now

Act: Sit quietly and declare, 'I am the birth of Christ in me now.' Visualize Mary as your receptive heart and the Holy Spirit as your living imagination forging form in awareness.
