Biblical Context
Jesus commands the foul spirit to leave the boy and not return; the spirit shrieks, the boy seems dead, but Jesus lifts him up and restores life. The episode portrays the clash of old limitation with a new inner state of wholeness.
Neville's Inner Vision
Mark 9:25-27 is a drama of consciousness. The crowd pressing in represents the surge of a new conditioning you desire to bring into your life. The 'dumb and deaf spirit' is the stubborn belief in your mind that you cannot hear truth or speak your true self; it is a state of limitation you have allowed to rule. When Jesus, the I AM within, commands, 'Come out of him, and enter no more,' that inner authority exposes the old pattern and refuses it power to recur. The spirit may seem to writhe and leave, and others may murmur that the man is dead, but this is only the appearance of the old state dying. Jesus then takes the boy by the hand and lifts him up; transformation follows when awareness refuses to abandon the once-bound state. The lifting is the renewing of perception, the restoration of vitality to the rightful self. This is your inner resurrection: not an event apart from you, but a shift of state accomplished by a steady assumption that you are the living manifestation of the I AM.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: In a quiet moment, declare 'I AM healed now' and picture the I AM's hand gently lifting you from the ground of fear. Hold that sense of rising until it becomes your natural perception.
