Biblical Context
In Mark 7:32-35, a deaf man with a speech impediment is brought to Jesus. Jesus takes him aside from the crowd, touches his ears and tongue, and, saying Be opened, immediately opens his ears and loosens his tongue so he can speak plainly.
Neville's Inner Vision
Viewed through the Neville lens, this healing is a revelation of inner state rather than a display of external power. Deafness and a blocked tongue symbolize beliefs that you cannot perceive or express your true nature. When the man is brought to Jesus, you are invited to turn from the outward crowd and enter the inner court of the I AM. Jesus removing him from the multitude mirrors withdrawing attention from social identities into the quiet certainty of consciousness. The gestures—fingers in the ears, spit, touching the tongue—represent inner acts of redefining sensation and speech through renewed belief. Looking toward heaven and sighing signify releasing resistance and aligning with the infinite I AM. Ephphatha, Be opened, is the decree you utter in imagination: I am opened to truth and to speaking clearly what you already know. Straightway the outer signs follow because your inner state has become your lived fact. Healing is thus the re-creation of your state, not a miracle imposed from outside, and you are always the I AM.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume the state of being opened—feel yourself hearing clearly and speaking with ease; silently repeat 'I am opened' until it becomes your felt reality.
