Two by Two: Inner Mission Revealed

Mark 6:7-13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Mark 6 in context

Scripture Focus

7And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
8And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:
9But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
10And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.
11And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
12And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
13And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
Mark 6:7-13

Biblical Context

Jesus commissions the twelve in pairs, gives them authority over unclean spirits, and instructs a sparse, trust-filled journey; they preach repentance and heal, relying on hospitality and their inner state rather than outer provisions.

Neville's Inner Vision

Verse 7-13 translates to your inner life. The twelve are not external messengers but two states of consciousness within you—faith and action, imagination and awareness—moving as one. Power over unclean spirits is your mastery over troubling thoughts and doubts that plague awareness. Traveling light—no bread, no money—signifies relying on the I AM presence, carrying only the staff of unwavering consciousness. Entering a house that receives you becomes abiding in a receptive mental state; shaking the dust from unwelcoming cities is discarding residual beliefs of separation. Preaching repentance is the inner turning toward a higher self, while casting out devils and healing denote the restoration of harmony within as the mind aligns with its true nature. You are not sending others to perform miracles; you are awakening the inner act that makes miracles possible. Practice this: assume you are already the healed state, and let outer events follow the movement of your inner awareness.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the consciousness that heals and moves through you, and for seven days enter each moment with the feeling, 'I am power over all limitation.' If an area resists you, imagine shaking off the dust of that perception and return to your welcoming inner room.
