Biblical Context
Mark 5:8 shows a sovereign command: 'Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.' It presents deliverance as an inner act of consciousness, freeing the mind from a disruptive inner state.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the gospel line, the man is a state of consciousness, and the unclean spirit is a stubborn habit of thought and feeling. Fear, doubt, or limitation can appear as a 'person' within, ruling the scene. When the I AM—your self-existent awareness—speaks, it issues an authority that does not plead; it commands. 'Come out' is not a demand upon another; it is a decisive revision of the inner climate. To hear that word is to recognize that you, as the I AM, have power to dissolve the old pattern and replace it with a new ruling state. The moment you identify with the I AM and refuse the old belief, the inner force that kept the old state in place loses its grip. The external 'deliverance' follows as the mind aligns with its own true nature: wholeness, clarity, and rest in a new consciousness. Persist in this inner command, and you will discover that the 'man' remains only as long as the belief holds it; once the belief yields, the exodus is complete and liberty becomes your normal state.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly, close your eyes, and silently declare: 'I AM, depart from me the unclean spirit; I now inhabit the fulfilled state.' Then feel the release as the inner fog lifts and your true wholeness remains.
