Inner Authority Mark 5:6-13

Mark 5:6-13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Mark 5 in context

Scripture Focus

6But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
7And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
8For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
9And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
10And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
12And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
Mark 5:6-13

Biblical Context

Jesus meets a man possessed by many unclean spirits and commands them to depart. The spirits leave, and the outward sign is the swine fleeing, showing inner cleansing taking visible form.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your inner man is a dwelling of many mistaken beliefs, fears, and identifications—Legion. When you become aware of them, Jesus—the I AM within—approaches and they tremble before your presence. The question, 'What is thy name?' reveals the multiplicity of thoughts that claim you. They plead to remain, yet the command comes: Come out. You are not required to fight them; you are asked to yield to a higher state. As you do, the unclean thoughts withdraw and their outward sign manifests: the swine rush to the sea, symbolizing the cleansing of your outer life as your inner state changes. Remember, God is the I AM that lives as you, and every possession dissolves when you attend to that one presence. The Spirit of Unity replaces fragmentation, and you awaken to a calm, restored self—delivered, renewed, and free to express the wholeness you already are.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and picture the Legion within as a crowd of thoughts; then softly affirm, I AM the presence that makes all things new, and feel the release as the mind settles into one peaceful self.
