Mark 5:14-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Mark 5 in context

Scripture Focus

14And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
15And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
Mark 5:14-15

Biblical Context

In Mark 5:14-15 the demoniac is found sane and clothed, while the onlookers arrive in fear to witness the change. The inner shift mirrors the outer scene: a new state of consciousness has clothed the man and released him from the old legion of thoughts.

Neville's Inner Vision

In Neville's view, the miracle is a translation of consciousness, not a spectacle of exorcism alone. The man who sits, clothed and in his right mind, embodies a new inner state that is made visible by presence. The swine's flight and the crowd's fear reveal the old order reacting to the dawning of a new I AM. The healing occurs when the I AM asserts itself as the sovereign center of awareness; the manifested body and conduct—quiet, orderly, dignified—are the natural fruits of that inner state. The fear you detect among observers is simply the mind clinging to old identities. When you acknowledge the I AM within, you disidentify from fear and allow the new consciousness to rule your experience. It is not external intervention but a recognition of your own divinity marching into the scene and reordering perception. Thus, the healing is immediate: you awaken to the fact that you are the I AM, and your world must reflect that truth.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly and assume you are the healed, whole self now. In imagination, witness yourself clothed and at ease, anchoring the I AM as the ruler of your mind and your experience.
