Mark 4:35-36

Biblical Context

Mark 4:35-36 shows Jesus guiding the disciples to cross to the other side as they depart the multitude; the voyage becomes a symbol of moving from one state of awareness to another.

Neville's Inner Vision

Across the lake, the outward voyage is a symbol of the inward crossing you have already chosen in imagination. 'Let us pass over unto the other side' is not a weather report; it's a statement of the state you choose to inhabit. The boat is your body moved by thoughts; the wind and waves are the fluctuations of consciousness that occur when you doubt your assumption. When the craft is 'taken unto him as he was,' Christ within remains your constant I AM, the awareness that cannot be disturbed by outward appearances. The other little ships around you reveal that many minds share the same sea of possibility, yet the result depends on your inner certainty. Do not argue with the storm; revise it by dwelling in the feeling that the end is already yours. Fix your attention on the shore you intend, assume its reality, and feel it real now. The moment you embody the end in consciousness, the inner sea settles, and you arrive on the imagined shore in experience.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: In a quiet moment, assume the end—already on the other side—and feel the shore's air as if you are there. Repeat 'I am the I AM' until the feeling of arrival floods your being.
