The Wayside Word Awakening

Mark 4:15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Mark 4 in context

Scripture Focus

15And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
Mark 4:15

Biblical Context

Mark 4:15 presents the Word sown by the roadside of the mind. When heard, inner resistance snatches it away before it can root in the heart.

Neville's Inner Vision

Imagine the Word as a living seed planted in your own consciousness. The 'by the way side' is not a distant place but a state of mind hardened by habit, where the light of truth cannot enter. When the Word is heard, the immediate appearance of 'Satan' is the mind’s own resistance—doubt, restlessness, the urge to prove before you feel. This inner opposition robs the seed of soil and moisture, so it withers before it can become a tree. The lesson is not to battle the outer world, but to restore the soil within. To do this, assume the end. Put yourself in the state where the word is already true, and feel it as real now. Repeat a gentle revision in which you acknowledge I AM as the ground of all possession, and let the doubt fade as you dwell in that truth. With sustained inner conviction, you nourish the seed until belief itself becomes the harvest. The word, once rooted, will inevitably produce fruit in your experience.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: The moment doubt arises, revise silently, 'I AM the soil that holds this truth.' Then envision the seed rooting and a branch of fulfillment flowering in your life.
