Biblical Context
In Mark 3:16-17, Simon is renamed Peter, and James and John are called Boanerges, the sons of thunder. This passage highlights inner naming as a shift in consciousness toward unity and empowered action.
Neville's Inner Vision
Know that nothing in the outer drama names you; the naming occurs within, where you stand in the I AM. When Simon is called Peter, and James and John are branded Boanerges, the text points to the fact that your inner states have been revised into living powers. Peter is the state of rock–steady faith, a consciousness that stands firm no matter what appears. Boanerges, the sons of thunder, are the paired energies of faith and trust unleashed to move the inner weather and, by extension, the outer scene. The thunder wakens you to act from a center that does not crumble, while the rock holds you to your essential reality. The renaming is not about others changing; it is your own awareness affirming new capacities. In this light, God or the I AM becomes your witnessing of an inner identity that can name you as Peter and Boanerges now, here, in present tense. Your imagination is the workshop of this re-birth; use it to rehearse being the steadfast one and the thunderous force in harmony, and observe the outer world follow the inner alignment.
Practice This Now
Practice: sit quietly and declare I am Peter now, the rock of faith; then declare I am Boanerges, the thunder of faith and trust; feel the energy as real in your chest and let one simple action reflect this new inner state.
