Mark 3:14

Biblical Context

Jesus ordained twelve so they could be with him, forming the foundation of their work. Then he would send them to preach.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the inner view, the twelve are not distinct men but states of consciousness, the twelve faculties that abide in your awareness when you choose to turn within. Being with him means you dwell in the I AM, the living, attentive I that never leaves your side. When you rest as this awareness, the impulse to preach becomes the natural expression of your inner union. The ordination is not a history to be recalled, but a permission slip you grant to your own mind: you are with him, therefore you are it, and from this oneness you speak, act, and invite others into your inner kingdom. Your daily life is the sending forth, for every word, choice, and deed carries the witness of that companionship. The key is to realize that vocation follows the felt presence of the divine in you—preaching with confidence arises from the assumed reality that you already stand in union with him, now.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine you are in the company of the teacher. Say, I am with Him now, and I am being sent forth from this inner unity to express my message.
