Read Mark 16 in context

Scripture Focus

17And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Mark 16:17-18

Biblical Context

Mark 16:17-18 speaks of signs following belief: power to heal, to speak anew, and to face danger without harm. In Neville’s reading, these signs are inner movements born from the I AM.

Neville's Inner Vision

Belief, in the Neville Goddard sense, is not a proposition you hold but a state you live. When the gospel says 'in my name,' it means acknowledging the I AM within as the source and proof of all you experience. The signs listed—casting out devils, speaking with new tongues, taking up serpents, not being harmed by deadly things, laying hands on the sick and recovering—are the natural performances of a consciousness that has awakened to its own power. 'Casting out devils' becomes the removal of false identifications, doubts, and fears that haunt your sense of self. 'Speaking with new tongues' is the birth of fresh faculties of expression—new ways your mind can describe and shape reality. 'Taking up serpents' and 'drinking deadly things' symbolize facing the venom of doubt and the potential harm of circumstance without allowing it to penetrate. 'Laying hands on the sick' and 'recovering' point to healing your inner body—restoring wholeness by a consciousness that says, I am, I can, I already am whole.

Practice This Now

Practice: Close your eyes and assume the feeling of the sign you desire as already real, affirming 'I am.' Then visualize yourself acting from that certainty today, and let the scene unfold in present awareness.
