Biblical Context
Evening arrives; Joseph of Arimathea, an honourable counsellor waiting for the kingdom of God, boldly asks Pilate for Jesus' body, and Pilate grants it after confirming death.
Neville's Inner Vision
Observe that the scene is not about a literal corpse but about a state of consciousness long desired by your true I AM. The evening and the preparation are the moment when old beliefs die to make way for a new life. Joseph, an inner counsellor who waits for the kingdom of God, steps into the 'outer' mind and boldly asks for the body. The Pilate within you—the rational, public voice—marvels and then yields when the inner witness (the centurion) confirms the death of the old form. The 'body' handed to Joseph is the old identity released into your hands, so that the new state may be clothed in form. This is the practical drama of imagination: you consent to the end of the old, and you grant the new state permission to occupy the body you inhabit. When you hold this as true, the Kingdom becomes your present fact; the visible world follows the inner decision because imagination creates reality.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume the state, 'the Kingdom of God is now my state.' See Joseph approach Pilate in your mind and ask for the body of the old self; feel the release as the old form is handed over and the new body of consciousness takes form.
