Biblical Context
Women stood at a distance, including Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, along with Salome; they had followed Jesus from Galilee and ministered to him.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this Markan snapshot, the cross is not a punishment to fear but a symbol of letting go of the old self. the women watching from afar are not distant witnesses to tragedy; they are your own states of consciousness that observe without engulfing the drama, the I AM aware but not yet identified with outer form. The presence of God you seek is not out there, but within: the I AM that these faithful energies acknowledge by remaining consistent and obedient to the inner life they have known. Mary Magdalene, the mother of James and of Joses, Salome—their fidelity echoes through your mind as you remember past alignments with the inner Jesus; they represent loyalty, service, and practical faith that keep the flame alive when appearances are bleak. The “many other women” are the numerous aspects of self ready to support the inner truth in Jerusalem—the new center of consciousness—when you choose to let your attention shift from the scene to the feeling of God present. Your task is to believe the inner scene before the outer changes, trusting and obeying the implicit promise of life within.
Practice This Now
Practice: sit quietly, identify with the Mary Magdalene energy within you, and declare, 'I am the presence of God now; I stand with the inner Christ and minister to it.' Then breathe, feel the shift from looking from afar to being near, and know this is real.
