Read Mark 14 in context

Scripture Focus

38Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
Mark 14:38

Biblical Context

The verse invites vigilance through prayer to prevent inner temptation. The spirit is ready, but the flesh is weak.

Neville's Inner Vision

Mark 14:38 is not a command to struggle, but a reminder of the arena of mind in which I live. 'Watch' becomes disciplined attention—I observe the arising thought or urge as if it were a passing cloud within the I AM. 'Pray' is the deliberate use of imagination to align the inner scene with the end I choose: a life governed by the will of the I AM, not by the habit of the flesh. The line 'the spirit truly is ready' speaks to the constant readiness of my higher self, the awareness that never yields to fear or limitation. 'The flesh is weak' reveals the power of habit, not an iron law; it shows me where I still cling to the old script. When I identify myself with the watcher, I revise by assuming the end I desire and feeling it now: I am the one who abides in the strength of the I AM, untouched by temptation. Temptation loses its force as the image is dissolved in consciousness that remains constant.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine you are already beyond temptation; declare, 'I am the watcher, I AM.' Feel the strength of the I AM as you revise the urge, and rest in that reality.
