Biblical Context
Jesus warns the disciples they will be offended by him this night; Peter and the others vow loyalty, yet Peter will deny him; after the crisis, Jesus rises and goes before them to Galilee.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider these verses as a map of your inner weather. 'All ye shall be offended by me this night' marks the moment when your sense of self-as-you-are is struck by a story that seems to contradict your proven security. The 'shepherd' is your center of consciousness—the I AM—that sometimes feels struck by the waves of fear and confusion, scattering your faculties into many moods, as if your sheep were dispersed. Peter's boastful vow is your ego clinging to the old agreement that you must prove yourself by struggle; the cock's crow is the signal of time when old beliefs betray you. Yet the verse that follows—'after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee'—speaks directly to your inner truth: no matter the scattering, your rising is already accomplished in consciousness. When you negate denial with the certainty 'I am risen,' you realign to the inner current that goes before you to your Galilee—the place of wholeness in which all discord is resolved by awareness. Your job: assume the end; feel the already finished state of steadiness, and let revision replace fear.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly, assume the end—'I am risen, I go before me into Galilee'—and feel it-real in your chest as a steady current. Let any fear thoughts revise to that state.
