Inner Desolation, Inner Flight

Mark 13:14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Mark 13 in context

Scripture Focus

14But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
Mark 13:14

Biblical Context

The verse speaks of a desolation standing where it should not and urges those in Judea to flee to the mountains. The deeper point is a call to shift attention from external events to the inner state.

Neville's Inner Vision

Mark 13:14 appears as a map of the psyche. The abomination of desolation is not a future ruin in a city; it is the moment inner allegiance to fear becomes louder than the I AM. When you witness the inner 'desolation'—the thought that you are defined by lack, danger, or circumstance—you are called to withdraw attention from the external fray and ascend in consciousness. Daniel’s prophecy points to a shift, not a place; the mountains you must flee to are the quiet, bounded by your own awareness, where the image of limitation cannot inhabit. The command to flee is an invitation to separate identification from the world of appearances and to dwell in the kingdom within. As you imagine from the I AM, the so-called desolation loses its grip, for you have turned away from the picture and returned to the ruler of your world: your awareness. Your imagination is the instrument by which the desolation is dissolved; you revise the scene, step into a higher state, and discover safety, continuity, and sovereignty in God. In practice, you can begin now by choosing a state of calm you will inhabit, regardless of outward happenings.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and imagine yourself stepping into a mountain sanctuary of quiet; repeat 'I AM' and feel that you are safe, sovereign, and fully present here.
