Inner Doorway of Healing
Mark 1:29-34 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Mark 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus heals Simon’s mother-in-law at the house, then heals many who are sick or possessed as evening falls.
Neville's Inner Vision
From the Neville vantage, the scene reveals not a series of events but a movement of consciousness. The fever in Simon’s mother-in-law is not a literal fever, but a feverish state of mind—fear, need, and the sense of separation from the I AM. When he took her by the hand and lifted her up, the act is symbolic of consciousness touching and revoking the dream of illness; the fever leaves because the self, in its true nature, is health. The crowd at evening represents the gathering of beliefs that attention and expectation can produce; healing comes when awareness refuses to identify with those beliefs. The devils are not external beings but insinuations of limitation and possession of fear; they are silenced because the presence of the I AM is acknowledged more real than any claim of disease. The inner message: healing is the natural state of the I AM when you, too, lift a troubled state by your consciousness and insist on wholeness. Practice now by assuming the state of health, and allow the feeling of completion to settle into your being.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and imagine Jesus taking your hand in your inner space, saying, 'I AM health in you now.' Feel the warmth and rest in that truth until wholeness remains.
