Calling from the Sea Within
Mark 1:16-20 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Mark 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus calls Simon and Andrew by the Sea of Galilee to follow him, promising a new form of work. James and John are also summoned, and they immediately leave their nets and their father to become his followers.
Neville's Inner Vision
Mark 1:16-20 is not a diversion in time, but a map of consciousness. The sea is your inner life; Simon and Andrew casting a net are your habitual thoughts about who you are and what you can do. When Jesus says, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men, the invitation is to align with the I AM that you truly are. The call begins as an inner movement, and the moment you hear it you forsake the nets—your old identifications and small dreams dissolve as you step toward a larger vocation. James and John, in the ship, leaving Zebedee and the hired servants, symbolize the shedding of inherited roles and dependencies that no longer serve your purpose. The outcome is not external conquest but a new function: to become fishers of men—attracting insight, healing, and inspiration through the awakened consciousness you live from. Your job, then, is to tend this inner sense of identity with faith, imagination, and steadfast obedience to the call within.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit in quiet awareness and declare, I am following the inner call now. Imagine you have already forsaken your nets and are walking after the I AM, becoming a fisher of men in your world.
