Return to Inner Discernment
Malachi 3:18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
A future moment emerges when one distinguishes the righteous who serve God from the wicked who do not. This discernment is an inner shift—a choice of which inner state you inhabit.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the aware reader, Malachi's 'then ye shall return' reveals the inner shift every soul must make. The 'righteous' and 'wicked' are not rival people abroad, but two inner states of consciousness competing for your attention. 'Him that serveth God' is the posture of alignment with the I AM—faith, stillness, fearless imagination; 'him that serveth him not' is the pull of fear, doubt, and resistance. When you return to the I AM, you instantly discern which state you are dwelling in by feeling: calm assurance versus unrest. The discernment does not judge others; it clarifies your own inner response, so your outward life can reflect your inner service. Remember: God is not out there but the I AM within you, and serving God is simply choosing to inhabit the state that honors that awareness. Your imagination writes the truth; your feeling confirms it. By repeatedly returning to this inner center, you lay hold of the state that serves the Divine Presence, and the world follows the consciousness you sustain.
Practice This Now
Practice: in five breaths, declare 'I am the I AM; I serve God in this moment.' Then feel the reality of that service—calm, confident, untroubled.
