Biblical Context
Malachi 3:13-15 presents a lament from people who feel it's vain to serve God and observe the wicked prosper, creating a tension between outward appearances and inner beliefs.
Neville's Inner Vision
The passage speaks not to external history but to your inner states. 'Your words against me' reveals a mind arguing with the I AM, claiming obedience yields no profit. When you say, 'It is vain to serve God,' you project lack onto your inner guidance and measure life by appearances, preferring the proud and the seemingly secure. In truth, the so-called wicked prosper, and the faithful mourn, to illuminate a deeper truth: every scene in your life is a motion of consciousness. The 'proud' are simply those states of mind that exalt the ego and resist alignment with the divine order within; they may appear to be set up, yet they are internal conditions, not distant judges. To liberate yourself, refuse the conclusion that service is empty. Assume the opposite: you are one with the I AM, obedience is your natural state, and justice follows from alignment, not from revolt. When you dwell in this inner harmony, your outer world shifts to reflect the confidence of your experience, not the doubt you once proclaimed.
Practice This Now
Impose a new inner sentence: 'I am the I AM; obedience is my natural state, and reward follows my alignment.' Sit in quiet for 5–7 minutes daily and feel that sentence like a memory already achieved, letting it rewrite your habitual beliefs.
