The Inner Messenger Comes
Malachi 3:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Malachi 3 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage announces a messenger who prepares the way for the Lord's coming to the temple. It asks who can endure that coming, for purification is like refining fire and cleansing soap.
Neville's Inner Vision
Know that the messenger is not arriving from without, but awakens within your own consciousness. The Lord you seek is the I AM that you are aware of, and the temple is the inner sanctuary where belief becomes reality. When you acknowledge the messenger, you invite a shift of state: you do not look for a distant event—you become the event. The refining fire and the fullers' soap are the ongoing activities of your awareness, burning away fear, limitation, and old stories, while cleansing the mind of residue. As you persist in the awareness of I AM, the old sense of separation dissolves and your inner temple resonates with presence. The day of coming is not a calendar date but a perception you inhabit; you abide by accepting the messenger into your consciousness, and in that acceptance, you experience unity, holiness, and the judgment you previously dreaded becomes a gentle alignment of your thoughts with your true being.
Practice This Now
Practice: Close your eyes, imagine a radiant messenger at the doorway of your inner temple, and silently affirm, 'I AM'. Feel the refining fire purify your beliefs while the soap clears old residues; revise any lack into the reality of presence.
