Inner Covenant of Spirit

Malachi 2:15-16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Malachi 2 in context

Scripture Focus

15And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
16For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
Malachi 2:15-16

Biblical Context

Malachi 2:15-16 urges you to guard the inner spirit and remain loyal to the 'wife of your youth'—the enduring covenant of your inner life—and to seek a godly seed; it warns against treachery, saying God hates putting away and the violence it covers.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider this as a picture of your inner life. God 'made one' and left the residue of the Spirit so you might bring forth a godly seed, if you remain faithful to the state you have chosen. In Neville's terms, that 'one' is your unity with the I AM, and the seed is the form your thought will birth as reality. When you permit divisions—doubt, fear, or a plan to 'put away' a present state—you clothe violence in your habits and sow discord into circumstance. The Lord hates such tearing because it destroys the living covenant of consciousness. Therefore, take heed to your spirit by refusing to abandon the state you intend to live from. Stand in the feeling of the fulfilled promise, cultivate steady faith, and treat your attention as the loom on which your future is woven. If you imagine you are already united with your highest quality—truth, peace, or love—your outer world will reflect that godly seed rather than conflict. Your inner covenant becomes the pattern of what you will experience; keep it intact and watch reality answer to your faithful inner alignment.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already loyal to your highest state; close your eyes, whisper I AM one with the godly seed I seek, and feel that unity as present reality for five minutes. Let your day be governed by that kept covenant.
