Biblical Context
Malachi 2:10-11 declares we share one Father and one God, and warns that treachery against a brother profanes the covenant. It also shows Judah profaning the LORD's holiness by worshiping a 'strange god'.
Neville's Inner Vision
Notice that the words 'one Father' and 'one God' do not speak of distant history but of your present condition. In my language, God is the I AM you call awake; the many people you judge in your dream are but the different states of consciousness you entertain. When you allow inner jealousy, fear, or attachment to counterfeit powers to mingle with your devotional life, you 'profane' the covenant you have with the Lord of your own heart. The true covenant is harmony between the various aspects of self, not a rigid external code; the 'strange god' you have married is the habitual thought that you are separate from the Source. As long as you entertain that other god, you split your allegiance and betray the inner father. But the remedy is simple: revise your inner stance until your awareness asserts its unity. Imagine, feel, and dwell in the reality that the I AM within you is one Father with all beings; let that wholeness heal any sense of treachery toward 'brother'. When you hold that inner covenant, holiness is no longer an act you perform; it becomes the atmosphere of your mind.
Practice This Now
Assume the inner state: I am one with the Father; for 60 seconds feel the covenant hold every thought as holy, dissolving the 'strange god' of separation.
