Esau in this writing is not a rival apart from you; he is a state of consciousness—the stubborn, fixed image of yourself that resists the living water of awareness. When the text says, I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness, it is not personal animosity but the I AM, your true self, disapproving of anything that clings to fear, separation, and identity as separate from God. The mountains you think belong to you—the long-held beliefs, the ancestral stories, the sense of possession—are shown to be waste in the wilderness of your inner life, so that dragons of the wilderness (fear, fantasy, doubt) may roil without creating a fixed reality. The judgment is the clearing of your inner landscape, making room for a new order: the awareness that you are the creator, and the landscape of your life follows your present assumption. When you accept this, your inner Edom dissolves and a truer inheritance becomes visible within.
