Biblical Context
In Luke 8:32–34, a man possessed by many demons is freed when the demons enter a herd of pigs; the swine drown, and witnesses report the event to others.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the herd of swine as the mountain of my mind where thoughts feed on fear. The demons are misidentifications about who I am, a belief in separation that cannot bear the light of the I AM. When Jesus allows them to enter the swine, the inner I AM does not punish; it clarifies. The devils leaving the man and entering the pigs signifies that the old, disordered state is emptied into form that cannot hold life—the herd rushing to the lake shows the collapse of that former arrangement under the light of true awareness. The destruction of the swine is not cruelty but the natural consequence of a false system that cannot coexist with truth. The villagers’ fear reveals their attachment to the old economy of thought. In this moment, healing arises when I, as the I AM, claim dominion over my thoughts and allow the mistaken vessels to be emptied. The man’s restoration is my inner alignment returning to the single reality of awareness, the land of my mind cleared for the divine presence to dwell.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and declare, 'I AM the Lord of my mind; release every fear and false identity now.' Feel the old thoughts dissolve as you rest in the certainty of I AM presence.
