Biblical Context
Jesus asks what this generation is like and shows they ignore both John’s austerity and His own sociable manner; their judgments reveal a fixed inner disposition. Wisdom, however, is justified by its children—by the fruits of true discernment.
Neville's Inner Vision
In Neville Goddard’s terms, the generation represents a state of consciousness that swerves between two external expressions—John’s stern asceticism and Jesus’ sociable presence—yet remains unmoved by either. The marketplace is the stage of your life where inner vibrations meet outer events. To ‘dance’ or ‘weep’ are merely inner responses to the music you allow your mind to hum. When you condemn one form, you condemn a facet of your own mind; when you rest in the I AM and listen to your true inner wisdom, the appearance of contradiction dissolves. Wisdom is not a judgment on morality but a living discernment whose truth manifests as the fruit of your experience. If you trust this inner discernment, your life will demonstrate that wisdom is justified by her children—the clear, harmonious outcomes that arise from inner alignment rather than outer approval.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Place the I AM as observer in the marketplace of your mind and revise any judgment about others. Feel-it-real that your inner wisdom is guiding responses and that your life will reflect the discerning state you assume.
