Inner Sabbath Lordship
Luke 6:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Luke 6 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse asserts that the Son of Man has authority over the Sabbath. Symbolically, the inner I AM governs rest and daily conduct.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here the 'Son of Man' stands as your higher self, the I AM within. If the inner self is Lord of the Sabbath, then rest ceases to be mere cessation and becomes a state you consciously preside over. The external law of Sabbath becomes an inner cadence you can revise with an assumed feeling of sovereignty: I AM alive, alert, and at rest in the One I am. When you imagine yourself already ruling the rhythm of your day, you experience thoughts, emotions, and acts flowing from a state of effortless authority rather than struggle. The Sabbath is not a place you keep but a mental condition you maintain; to claim lordship is to decide in advance what you will accept as real. Your obedience becomes faithfulness to the inner I AM, not compliance with outward rules. In this way, Luke 6:5 invites a practical transformation: you become the ruler of your inner time by feeling it real that you are free, sovereign, and fully awake.
Practice This Now
Practice: Sit quietly and assume, 'I AM the Lord of the Sabbath now,' and feel steadfast rest as your governing presence. Then move through your day from that inner sovereignty.
