Mercy as Your True Self

Luke 6:35-36 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Luke 6 in context

Scripture Focus

35But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
36Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
Luke 6:35-36

Biblical Context

Luke 6:35-36 invites loving enemies, doing good, and lending without expectation, so you awaken to your true mercy-filled nature as a child of the Highest.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this teaching you are called to love your enemies, do good, and lend without demand for return, for in those acts you place yourself inside the consciousness of the Highest. The command to be merciful as your Father is merciful is not about distant judgment but about a shift of state. When you feel heat for one who wrongs you, you are invited to recognize that the enemy is a projection of your own unhealed self. By choosing to respond with kindness, you collapse the separation between you and the entire field of life. Your reward is described as great because you are no longer measuring life by others debts; you are aligning with your true nature as a son (or daughter) of the Highest, which is kindness, abundance, and forgiveness in action. Remember: God, the I AM, is within; you do not earn mercy from without, you awaken to it within. Your acts of generosity ripple from the inner state you inhabit, creating a world that reflects your inner mercy.

Practice This Now

Assume the feeling that you are the Highest now. Revision: release a grievance toward someone you resent; feel the mercy you already are, and let generous acts flow from that inner state rather than from obligation.
