Biblical Context
In Luke 4:5-7, the devil tempts Jesus with worldly kingdoms and power, offering them in exchange for worship. Jesus shows resistance, highlighting that true allegiance is to the I AM within rather than external power.
Neville's Inner Vision
Luke 4:5-7 invites us to see the devil not as a person but as a state of consciousness that promises power by aligning with the ego. The 'kingdoms of the world' are inner conditions you entertain, the glory they offer a mirror of outer outcomes you believe you deserve through force or fear. The high mountain is a shift in awareness where you survey your inner landscapes and realize the panorama of desire exists only as images in mind. The claim that 'this power is delivered unto me' speaks to the belief that sovereignty resides outside of you, in things, positions, names. The invitation to worship the tempter, 'If thou wilt worship me, all shall be thine,' is the moment you tilt toward the ego's worship—denying the I AM and trading present peace for promised control. Jesus’s refusal is the living practice of true worship: turn attention from the ego’s theater to the I AM within, acknowledge that the kingdom is here and now in awareness, and let the outer scene reflect the inner decree. When you align with the inner king, power and glory dissolve into harmony with Divine Being.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling that the I AM is your only source; in a quiet moment, revise any urge toward outer power by declaring, 'I worship the I AM within,' and observe the world responding to that inner truth.
