Bread and Word Within

Luke 4:3-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Luke 4 in context

Scripture Focus

3And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
4And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Luke 4:3-4

Biblical Context

The devil tempts Jesus to turn a stone into bread in order to prove his sonship. Jesus replies that life is not sustained by bread alone but by every word of God.

Neville's Inner Vision

That scene is the inner crucible where you confront belief in lack. The stone is a habit of sensing absence; the tempter speaks as the ego, demanding proof through external nourishment. Your true nourishment comes from the Word within, the I AM that you are. Life is not sustained by bread but by the word you entertain in consciousness. When you acknowledge the Word as the governing principle, the imagined appetite loses its charge and your imagination becomes the channel of supply. Practice is simple: assume the Word as already true, revise the craving into a quiet affirmation of inner provision, and feel it real. Your only reality is the truth of God speaking through you. As you dwell in that inner state, the outer scene adjusts to reflect your perfected inner idea.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Assume I am sustained by the Word within me and feel it real. Let the craving dissolve into quiet alignment.
