Read Luke 4 in context

Scripture Focus

Luke 4:16

Biblical Context

Jesus returns to Nazareth and, as his custom, enters the synagogue on the Sabbath to read.

Neville's Inner Vision

Luke 4:16 places the reader in the inner Nazareth the familiar room of my own making. The synagogue is the sanctuary of my attention where thoughts are read and beliefs tested. The Sabbath is a rhythm of stillness within, a space where I rest from outward bustle and listen for the I AM. When I read the scroll of life inwardly I witness my own laws and discover that separation dissolves before the Presence. This is not history but instruction: the custom I call my life is a state of consciousness I can revise. By assuming I am already within the Presence I align with the I AM the constant Self that never leaves. True worship is presence not ceremony it is the willingness to revise inner decrees until they harmonize with the divine script written on the heart. The inner Law is the principle of my assumption; the Commandments are the inner laws I live by when I act as the Presence here and now.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, picture the inner synagogue and assume you are the Presence. Read a single self affirming line and feel it real, letting the sense of I AM settle into your body.
