Fruits of True Repentance

Luke 3:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Luke 3 in context

Scripture Focus

7Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Luke 3:7-8

Biblical Context

John tells the multitude not to boast in Abraham, for true repentance bears fruit. External lineage cannot save you; inner change must be demonstrated outwardly.

Neville's Inner Vision

Here, verse 7 rebukes the idea of clinging to a safe ancestral shield. In my reading, the 'generation of vipers' is a state of consciousness that fears the coming wrath and clings to identity. The demand for 'fruits worthy of repentance' becomes a practical practice: revise every assumption about who you are until it bears evidence of inner change. Do not say within yourself 'We have Abraham to our father' but declare that God is able to raise up new beings from the stones of your own consciousness. The I AM, your awareness, does not require a lineage; it births obedience, steadiness, and faithful action as proof of your conversion. Judgment, then, is inward accountability: you are asked to align with the truth that you are already beloved and capable of producing fruits that prove your turning is real.

Practice This Now

Assume the state 'I am the fruit of repentance' and feel it real now; imagine your thoughts, words, and deeds aligning with that inner truth.
