Luke 3:4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Luke 3 in context

Scripture Focus

4As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
Luke 3:4

Biblical Context

The verse cites Isaiah, describing a voice crying in the wilderness urging people to prepare the Lord’s way. It calls for straightening the paths, clearing obstacles in the inner life.

Neville's Inner Vision

To me, Luke 3:4 is the inner economy at work. The 'voice crying in the wilderness' is your own consciousness stirred from its desolate opinions, calling you to attention. It invites you to shift from want to realization, to prepare the way by aligning your inner beliefs with the truth of I AM. 'Make his paths straight' is a law of consciousness: straighten the grooves of your mind until your outer life follows the inner alignment. Your imagination, diligently held to the finished state, becomes the bulldozer that clears doubt and resistance; your feeling of the wish fulfilled is the iron road laid upon the earth of your life. The future is not coming from without but emerging from within, when you assume the state and dwell there long enough for it to feel real. So listen for the wilderness voice, revise any counter-state, and stay in the awareness of the Lord within. In that stillness, the road you travel becomes straight.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the fulfilled state now and feel the road straightening; revise any doubt until it feels real.
