The Closed Door Within
Luke 13:25-27 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Luke 13 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage shows that proximity to the teacher is not enough. True entry depends on an inner state and alignment with the I AM, not outward association.
Neville's Inner Vision
Note that the master of the house is not a man outside but the I AM you awaken to within; when he rises up and shuts the door, you are being called to an interior shift from seeking God to recognizing you are already known by God. The knocking outside is the old self, the memory of having eaten in his presence, the belief that proximity equates entry. Yet the claim I know you not whence ye are reveals that identity cannot be earned by deeds or learned in the streets; it is discovered by inward origin. If you still cling to the image of yourself as separate, you will hear depart from me as a verdict on your former self. But Luke is no condemner; he is inviting a transformation of consciousness—return home to the I AM and claim your oneness. The door closes so you can stop bargaining with appearances and begin to live from the awareness that your reality follows your inner state. Your life becomes not ritual but a remembered truth: you are the presence that knows and is known.
Practice This Now
Imaginatively, for one mindful minute, assume you are the master of your inner house and feel the door rise and close behind you. Repeat internally, I know whence I am and dwell in the awareness that you belong to the I AM.
