Biblical Context
Luke 1:71-75 proclaims deliverance from enemies and remembrance of the holy covenant. That deliverance enables a life of fearless service and holiness before God.
Neville's Inner Vision
All the 'enemies' in this verse are inner states of resistance—fear, doubt, or the sense of separation—that seem to stand between you and your desired life. Salvation is a shift of consciousness: you become aware of the I AM behind all experiences, and that awareness delivers you from the hand of inner foes. The mercy promised to our fathers and the oath to Abraham become a living covenant you renew in the imagination. To serve God without fear is to act from that inner assurance, not from old stories of separation. Immerse yourself in the feeling that you are already delivered now, and let the day-to-day moments reflect holiness and righteousness as your natural state. In this stance, covenant loyalty is simply persistent awareness—an ongoing acknowledgement of the I AM within guiding you toward fearless service and compassionate response to others. The outer world then lines up with your inner image, and what you call "enemies" is reconciled as the theater of inner transformation.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly, assume you are already delivered from inner enemies; feel the I AM as your own presence and declare, 'I am delivered; I serve without fear,' letting that state sink into you for a minute or two.
