Benedictus: Inner Salvation Now

Luke 1:67-79 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Luke 1 in context

Scripture Focus

67And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,
68Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,
69And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;
70As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:
71That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;
72To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;
73The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,
74That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,
75In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
76And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
77To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
78Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
79To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Luke 1:67-79

Biblical Context

Zacharias proclaims that God has visited and redeemed Israel, promising salvation, mercy, and a path of holiness that leads to peace.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the Neville view, this is a record of consciousness not a distant event. The 'I AM' within you blesses God and declares that you are already redeemed, because God’s visitation is your own awareness becoming aware of itself. The horn of salvation is the sharp impulse of a new assumption that rises in the house of your heart—the 'house of David' symbolizing the seat of your established beliefs. Since the world began, prophets spoke of salvation; now you are the prophet of your own life, speaking through imagination. The enemies are fear, lack, and limitation, which you are freed from as you identify with the light rather than the shadow. To remember the covenant is to remember your inner agreement that you are holy and righteous in this moment. The oath to Abraham becomes your present trust that you are delivered from old narratives so you may serve without fear. The child, the Highest, going before you to prepare the way, is your ongoing act of imagining the light to guide your feet into peace.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, breathe, and declare, 'I am the dayspring of light within me now,' feeling mercy as your present reality; revise any sense of separation until peace wells up and guides your steps.
