Burning Away the Old Self
Leviticus 9:11-14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The burnt offering is prepared and burnt in stages: flesh and hide outside the camp, blood sprinkled around the altar, the head and pieces burned, then the inward parts washed and burnt on the altar.
Neville's Inner Vision
To read Leviticus 9:11-14 through the I AM is to hear the inner process of purification. The flesh and the hide burned outside the camp symbolize parts of the self exposed to the world that must be burned away, not kept in a guarded inner city. The blood sprinkled round about the altar stands for the continuous application of awareness to every act, a sanctification of motive and method. When the sacrifice is presented with its pieces and head and then burned upon the altar, we are shown an integrated transformation: the mind, the will, and the feeling life are laid upon the altar and consumed by divine fire, leaving a purified center. The washing of the inward parts and the legs is a tender reminder that even hidden motives, steps, and habits deserve cleansing before they can be offered up as a symbol of worship. The altar is not a distant ritual but your own awareness—the I AM—receiving, purifying, and transforming. As you acknowledge that you are already that which you seek, the ceremonial acts become familiar mental habits that align the outer life with the inner flame, and holiness becomes your normal state.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the role of the priest within. Envision the old self being burned outside the camp, the blood of awareness sprinkled around the altar, and the inward parts washed and offered on the fire, so your new self rises.
