Biblical Context
If a person sins unintentionally in holy matters, they must bring a ram and pay the prescribed silver, adding a fifth part; the priest then makes atonement, and forgiveness is granted.
Neville's Inner Vision
In Neville Goddard's reading, the trespass is a misalignment in your inner state about the holy. Ignorance is simply not knowing your own I AM as the source of value. The ram without blemish represents your unblemished inner self, while the silver denotes the value you assign to error. By adding the fifth part, you reallocate attention and re-prioritize your inner temple, handing this to the inner priest—the activity of perception within you that applies truth. The priest makes atonement by aligning your life with that truth, and forgiveness follows as a shift in consciousness, not a transaction of external rite. The entire rite becomes a metaphor for inner revision: acknowledge the mis-timing, reaffirm your wholeness, and let the felt sense of harmony replace guilt. When your consciousness is thus realigned, you live as though forgiveness is already true, because it is the state of I AM you inhabit in every moment.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes, assume the I AM as your only reality, and present the ram of wholeness to your inner priest, adding the fifth part of your attention back to the sacred temple. Feel the forgiveness as already done, right now.
