Leviticus 4:22-26 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Leviticus 4 in context

Scripture Focus

22When a ruler hath sinned, and done somewhat through ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD his God concerning things which should not be done, and is guilty;
23Or if his sin, wherein he hath sinned, come to his knowledge; he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a male without blemish:
24And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt offering before the LORD: it is a sin offering.
25And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out his blood at the bottom of the altar of burnt offering.
26And he shall burn all his fat upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings: and the priest shall make an atonement for him as concerning his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.
Leviticus 4:22-26

Biblical Context

The passage describes a ruler who sins in ignorance and must offer a sin offering. The ritual of blood, burnt fat, and atonement brings forgiveness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through the mind’s eye, Leviticus 4:22-26 is not a historical ritual but a map of consciousness. The 'ruler' is any part of you that governs your life—your will, your attention, your self-concept—and sin is simply a misalignment of awareness. The offering of a blemish-free kid represents turning away from faulty stories and placing your faith in a higher state of being. When the ruler lays hands on the head of the goat, you acknowledge ownership of the old assumption and invoke a release. The killing of the animal in the place of sacrifice marks the decision to end that old state in your imagination; the priest's blood on the altar’s horns embodies fixing a new conviction at the center of awareness. Burning the fat signifies letting go of attachment to the old identity, and the atonement follows as your renewed inner alignment, and with it, forgiveness. In this light, forgiveness is not earned; it is the natural consequence of reassigning your state of consciousness.

Practice This Now

Assume the feeling 'I am forgiven now.' In your imagination, touch the head of the symbolic goat as a sign of releasing the old self, and see the blood and fat burned away, making room for a fresh center of awareness.
