Biblical Context
Leviticus 24:5-9 describes twelve loaves placed on a pure table before the LORD, arranged in two rows with frankincense, set as a memorial offering, and eaten by Aaron and his sons in a holy place as a perpetual statute.
Neville's Inner Vision
All that you see as 'bread' is your inner discernment. The twelve loaves are twelve qualities you cultivate—faith, patience, gratitude, courage, compassion, focus, forgiveness, clarity, surrender, joy, stillness, and love—two rows of six. They rest on the table of your pure awareness, the sanctuary within where God, or the I AM, breathes as your present consciousness. The frankincense upon each row is the incense of remembrance, the deliberate memory that keeps these qualities alive as a memorial to the Lord. This is a perpetual covenant: by tending your inner table every Sabbath, you vow to keep your consciousness pure and holy, choosing to eat only that which sustains the divine life in you. The outward life then naturally follows from this inner order, for you cannot separate the inner arrangement from the world that appears.
Practice This Now
In a quiet moment, imagine your mind as the pure table, placing twelve loaves of awareness in two rows. Then feel you are nourished by the covenant of endless awareness as you mentally eat.
