Inner Ordinance of Holiness

Leviticus 18:30 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Leviticus 18 in context

Scripture Focus

30Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.
Leviticus 18:30

Biblical Context

The verse commands keeping God's ordinance to avoid defiling yourselves with former customs. The Lord declares this order belongs to you as His people.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through the I AM lens, this verse is not a list of external prohibitions but an invitation to fix your inward state. 'Mine ordinance' is the steady inner law by which you regulate thoughts, feelings, and choices. The 'abominable customs' are no more than old states of consciousness—habits of fear, blame, or separation—that you no longer permit to define you. When you insist on keeping the ordinance, you affirm the reality of your true Self, the I AM that God declares you to be. Since God here is your own awareness, the command becomes an instruction to guard the inner atmosphere: to prevent yourself from defiling your sacred space with yesterday's negativity. By repeating and feeling this alignment, you invite outer appearances to reflect a purified consciousness. The final clause, I AM the LORD your God, confirms that the source of order and purity is your own awareness, not external authority. As you live from that inner standard, you honor both your humanity and your divine nature.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and imagine you are already living by the inner ordinance. Feel the I AM within you as pure awareness and revise every old habit as a shadow left behind.
