Biblical Context
Verse 15:28-30 describes a seven-day cleansing period. On the eighth day, two birds are brought for offerings, and the priest makes atonement for her.
Neville's Inner Vision
I see this not as a ritual performed on a person, but as a story for the inner state you inhabit. The seven days symbolize a passing from old thoughts and feelings of separation, a gentle letting go of the sense that you are distant from God. The eighth day marks a decisive turning point when you admit a new light into your consciousness. Present two birds to the priest of your mind—the first as a sin offering, the second as a burnt offering. The sin offering acknowledges the belief in separation and releases it; the burnt offering consecrates your renewed awareness to the higher self, the I AM that you are. In this reading, the priest is your inner faculty of forgiveness, the act of atonement is self-acceptance by awareness itself. When you accept that you are clean in the light of your true self, the old condition dissolves and a new vitality stirs. The ritual is not about external rules but about implanting in imagination the truth that you are whole by your very consciousness.
Practice This Now
Assume the state, 'I am clean and whole.' Breathe seven calm breaths to release the old belief, then on the eighth breath picture offering two birds to your inner priest and feel the atonement flowing through your awareness.
