Inner Birth Purification Revealed

Leviticus 12:1-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus

1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.
3And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
4And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.
5But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.
6And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:
7Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female.
8And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

Biblical Context

Leviticus 12:1-8 describes a ceremonial period after childbirth when the woman is considered unclean. It ends with offerings and purification that restore cleanliness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this sacred scene, the birth of a child signals the birth of a new state of consciousness within me. The designation of impurity is not to condemn but to mark a temporary withdrawal of awareness from old conditions, a necessary pause that allows the seed of God within to reveal itself. The seven days, then the eighth-day circumcision, symbolize cutting away the old coverings I’ve worn—identities I believed were me—and making room for the living I AM. The separate periods of purification—three and thirty days for a son, sixty-six for a daughter—are mental durations, signs that the mind must repeat the focus and feel the truth until it merges with its divine nature. When the days are fulfilled, I present an offering—my attention, my return to the door of the tabernacle, the inner sanctuary. The lamb of the first year and the dove are symbols of right action and gratitude that atone in consciousness. The priest is my higher self, declaring that I am cleansed. Remember: the Law is the map of states; purification is the revision of my inner climate until I live as the I AM, here and now.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes and imagine the moment of inner birth; see yourself stepping into the I AM, purified and whole. Rehearse a revision aloud: 'I am the I AM, and this mind is cleansed now.'
