Inner Burnt Offering Practice
Leviticus 1:3-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Leviticus 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Plain summary: A spotless bull is offered of the offerer's own will, hands laid on its head, blood shed and burned to make atonement; a rite of true worship and consecration.
Neville's Inner Vision
Viewed through the I AM, Leviticus 1:3-9 is a lesson in the sacrifice of the ego and the birth of a conscious state. The herd's male without blemish speaks of a spotless attention, offered by the self’s own will, at the door of the tabernacle within. When you lay your hand on the head of the sacrifice, you acknowledge identification with the offering and, in effect, say, this part of me shall be accepted to make atonement for all the rest. The sprinkling of blood is the stirring of life through your awareness, not a punishment but a circulation of your true nature into the places you have judged as separate. Flaying and cutting symbolize the exposing of every hidden texture of thought; washing the inward parts is purification by the light of insight; burning on the altar is the transformation of that life into a sweet savour, a state of right relation to the divine. In this inner rite, your attention becomes the sacred fire by which you are re-created.
Practice This Now
Assume the state of being accepted by God and place your hand on the head of your present self, declaring I am at one with the I AM; feel the cleansing life flow and imagine the old self burned away.
