Biblical Context
Leviticus 1:11–13 describes a burnt offering: the animal is slain, blood sprinkled around the altar, its pieces laid on the wood, and it is washed and burned as a sweet savour unto the LORD. The ritual speaks of devotion through total surrender and cleansing of the self.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the temple of your own consciousness, the burnt offering is not a beast’s death but the surrender of your old identifies to the I AM within. The northward altar invites your attention to the higher mind; the sprinkling of blood signifies purification of thought by awareness. Cutting the animal into pieces mirrors dividing fixed habits and self-images; washing the inwards and the legs represents cleansing motive and belief; laying the parts on the wood and burning them upon the altar signals placing purified material upon the fire of desire and consenting to its transformation by God. When you practice this inner sacrifice in imagination, you align your consciousness with the truth that you are the I AM, and your faith becomes reality. The fragrant aroma arises when the inner offering is received by your divine nature, not to appease a distant deity but to awaken the remembered presence of God within.
Practice This Now
Assume the state you desire as already true; in your imagination, offer your old self to the I AM and feel the release. Breathe in the realization that it is done and dwell there for a moment.
