Lamentations 5:17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Lamentations 5 in context

Scripture Focus

17For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes are dim.
Lamentations 5:17

Biblical Context

The verse expresses collective exhaustion: the heart is faint and eyes dim under hardship. It signals how outer trials reveal an inner weariness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your heart and eyes speak the state of attention, not the nature of God within you. The faint heart is simply misaligned attention, a momentary forgetfulness that you are the I AM witness in charge of your scene. The dim eyes confess you are listening to what you see rather than to the eternal presence behind it. The cause of weariness is not the world but your decision to identify with the lack and with time-bound appearances. So you must revise the image: assume that you are the living awareness that already possesses what you seek, and let the seen rise from that finished state. Say to yourself, 'I am the light that perceives; my heart is steady; my eyes are clear in the energy of the I AM.' Feel that truth coursing through your chest, breathe with it, and keep the feeling of completion until the old feeling dissolves. This is not denial but a deliberate shift in consciousness to see from the end. As you hold this, the world will begin to reflect your awakened state.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and revise: I am the I AM; my heart is full, my sight is clear. Feel this completed state as real in your body.
