Read Lamentations 3 in context

Scripture Focus

31For the LORD will not cast off for ever:
32But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
33For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
34To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
35To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,
36To subvert a man in his cause, the LORD approveth not.
Lamentations 3:31-36

Biblical Context

The verse states that the Lord does not cast off forever; hardship is tempered by mercy, and true justice comes from the Most High. It invites turning inward, recognizing the source of experience as your state of consciousness, not external fate.

Neville's Inner Vision

The lines speak in the language of your inner life. 'The LORD will not cast off for ever' signals the I AM that never abandons your awareness. Grief is not a punishment from an external ruler but a signal that a belief is out of harmony with the mercies already available to you. 'According to the multitude of his mercies' reveals an inexhaustible fountain you may drink from by directing attention to the inner Self. When you dwell in this awareness, compassion arises as the natural law of your mind. 'He doth not afflict willingly' means painful scenes are not willed by your true Self; they are misperceptions that consciousness can dissolve. 'To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth' is the metaphor for dissolving the bindings of false identities in your mind. 'To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High' invites you to revise judgments about yourself and others from the vantage point of the Most High within. 'LORD approveth not' such internal subversions, so choose a higher frame by which to live. Practically, return to mercy as your governing principle and imagine the desired end as already real.

Practice This Now

Imitate by assuming the I AM is sovereign over your experience; revise a recent grievance by stating, "I am not cast off; mercy now governs my life," and feel that compassionate state as real.
