Lamentations 1:8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jerusalem here stands for an inner state that has fallen short and is removed from its former life. It is exposed to contempt as the heart laments and turns away.
Neville's Inner Vision
Jerusalem grievously sinned is your inner city that has believed itself apart from its source. Sin here is a misperception, a state of consciousness that forgets the I AM. Therefore she is removed: you feel the consequences of that misperception as distance from your former sense of wholeness. All that honoured her despise her: the good you once praised in your life may withdraw when you cling to the old story of separation; those who once cherished your inner state are now chilled by your belief in lack. Because they have seen her nakedness: the exposed truth of the mind—without the garments of faith—appears as fear, limitation, and shame in the body of experience. Yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward: the heart laments and you instinctively retreat from the old pattern. Yet this is the invitation: not punishment, but a turning back toward the I AM within. By aligning with the assurance I AM, you reinterpret the exterior as a projection of your inner state, and the external conditions begin to bow to the new consciousness.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling of I AM and revise the old scene. Close your eyes, imagine the inner Jerusalem bathed in light, and declare I am whole, letting lack dissolve into presence.
