Scripture Focus

7Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the adversaries saw her, and did mock at her sabbaths.
Lamentations 1:7

Biblical Context

Jerusalem recalls its former blessings while enduring affliction. Enemies surround it and mock the sabbaths of rest.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville's ear, this verse is a map of the human mind: Jerusalem is your inner state, the memory of calm and bloom, now touched by pain and loss. The miseries are the present habits of thought that arise when you identify with lack. The enemy's hand is the resistance of doubt and limitation; no helper appears because you have not yet realized your power to act from the I AM. The mockery of sabbaths points to times when your peaceful states are ridiculed by your current mental weather, as if rest were weakness. Yet the text invites a simple turn: consciousness can 'remember' differently. The past is not a chain but a memory within; by choosing a new present tense, you re-erect the city within. The I AM within you is the true Jerusalem; if you dwell there, you awaken the memory of pleasant things as your permanent state, not as relics of the past. Focus on the assumption that you are now in control, that support and ease flow from the inner state, and feel that this is true in your body and breath.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume, in the present tense, 'I am the I AM; I rest in power now.' Feel this rebuilt inner Jerusalem filling your chest with calm and certainty.
